They premiere in Spain a documentary about religious persecution in Nicaragua

This week the documentary “Nicaragua will raise” has been presented in Spain that portrays the religious persecution in the Central American country by the dictatorial regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.

The report, prepared by the journalist Fernando de Haro, is part of Persecuted Christians, A series of audiovisual works focused on denouncing the attacks suffered by Catholics in different parts of the world promoted by the CEU LNituto of Historical Studies.

In the past, these reports have addressed persecution situations in Egypt, Lebanon, Nigeria, India, Iraq, Syria, China, Pakistan, Israel and Palestine.

Over 45 minutes, the journalist weaves a portrait with the voices of some people who have suffered persecution in Nicaragua, including religious, priests, journalists, lawyers, student and peasant leaders.

On the border with Costa Rica, where there are numerous refugees, the documentary shows the reality of the missionaries of charity expelled from the country, who do not hide the fear that passed – “is something human,” they remember – but neither does their willingness to welcome The martyrdom.

“Are they going to kill me for my faith? It is a joy, a blessing and a grace of God. Being a martyr is a grace of God, ”he explains simply and strengths one of the religious.

The film has the testimony of several exiled students, among which some ended up in the Evarist the one that is enclosed in the dark for months to political prisoners.

Among the testimonies, the German Lesther, a student exiled in Spain, who became known for his participation in the National Dialogue Round propitiated by the Catholic Church, in which he could go to the dictator Ortega, stands out.

The young German reveals how he faced jail time as “a spiritual retreat” in which, when moments of faith came, he had to remember the multiple “love details” of the Lord in his life.
