In his homilyCardinal Roche encouraged the new presbyters to “discover and develop every day the greatness of this treasure he gives them to take care of his people wherever he takes their mission.”

“This requires that they are close to the one who calls them, who has touched his heart, and now shares with you his priesthood; but also demands that they approach those who will be in charge of caring ·, he said.

“As the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV said last Sunday, is the good shepherd to whom you give your life and will depend on him. He is the pastor who takes care of you, who knows you not only by name, but in the depths of his heart, and that gives you his life and everything they need,” he added.

Cardinal Roche later insisted: “This is the mission that trusts them: to be for others a good shepherd in everything they do, and walk by their side throughout their lives. Only their others will follow them.”

He also encouraged them: “Aware of having been chosen among men and constituted in favor of them to attend the things of God, exercise with joy and sincere charity the priestly work of Christ, trying to please God only and not yourself.”

“Always have before their eyes the example of the good shepherd, who did not become served, but to serve, and to seek and save what was lost,” he encouraged them at the end of his homily.

Among the new priests are members of the Opus Dei Originarios de México, the United States, Argentina, Spain, among other countries.
