The Catechism of the Catholic Church places pornography as one of the offenses to chastity, as are lust, masturbation, fornication, prostitution and rape.
The numeral 2354 points out that “pornography consists of removing sexual acts, real or simulated, from the privacy of the protagonists, to deliberately exhibit them before third parties. “It offends chastity because it distorts the purpose of the sexual act.”
Pornography also “seriously attacks the dignity of those who dedicate themselves to it (actors, merchants, the public), since each one becomes an object of rudimentary pleasure and illicit gain for another.”
“It introduces some and others into the illusion of a fictitious world. It is a serious fault. Civil authorities must prevent the production and distribution of pornographic material,” he concludes.
