The first time in which it was exposed for its public veneration was when the new and definitive grave was inaugurated. On that occasion, “the body was exposed in the low choir fence for about seven hours on October thirteen,” after the silver ark was placed in the new marble grave, he details the monastery website.

In 1914 the Teresian sepulcher was opened twice. The first on August 16 and the body was exhibited in the high dressing room, privately, until the 23rd of the same month in which it was placed again in the marble grave.

Five days later, on August 28, he reopened for popular veneration, for a few hours, being closed the same day.

According to the monastery, “there were attempts to reopen it in the 1981-1982 on the occasion of the IV Centenary of the death of Santa Teresa de Jesús,” but finally it was not done.

The public veneration of 2025 is framed in the authorization of Pope Francis of the recognition of the body of the saint and that led to the opening of the sepulcher twice, on August 28, 2024 and February 18, 2025.

In the last four months, the body has been stored in a provisional urn in the closure of the Alba de Tormes monastery.
