The Catholic Church in San Luis Potosí (Mexico) called on the population to reduce or avoid the use of gunpowder and fireworks during the festivities, after an accident that occurred on September 29, the day of the arcángel saints, which left several injured.

“In facts like these we must maintain faith and encourage each other; be more care in the preparation of our patron saint parties; if it is possible to avoid all kinds of gunpowder or fireworks that tarnish these feasts of faith and that cause unnecessary accidents,” he urged the prelate.

He also insisted that, in cases where “due to custom or tradition, gunpowder cannot be avoided,” precautions should be “extreme, and suggested that pyrotechnic stalls are not installed near gas facilities or light cables.
