To obtain plenary indulgence, this year 2025 is due in this year, crossing a holy door, confessing, commuing and praying for the Pope’s intentions, in addition to specifying whether the indulgence is desired for oneself or for some deceased.
Fr. Bautista explains that “the pastoral of the duel, accompanying the mourners due to the death of loved ones, is incardina in the heart of the bliss of the kingdom announced by Jesus, expresses the love of the Father and transmits the consolation of the Holy Spirit.”
This pastoral, the priest continues, is done “organizedly, as a team, through competent and empathic good Samaritans, experts in the art of the duel help relationship.”
The “deep footprints” of the death of a loved one
In an interview with Ewtn News, the religious Camilo stressed that this duel pastoral accompanies those who suffer from the death of a loved one, especially when the death has been caused by a traffic accident, homicide, suicide or when death has been sudden.
“They are very strong impacts and that leave a very painful mark. In such a way that we always die more than we believe when someone dies to which we have given the heart. And also leaves deep traces in character,” explains the priest.
“There are deaths that change the personality and also leave wounds that last and also leave spiritual injuries. There are many people who feel proven by God, punished, who have sent them a test, which have not been heard, they suffer, move away from God, from the community,” says the priest.
“That is why,” he says, “the mission of oral peace of duel is to do this very human, very qualified accompaniment.”
Fr. Bautista also highlights the importance of making a good duel, because the wound caused by the death of a loved one “has to heal, we even have to learn from it.”
On the jubilee, the priest of Spanish origin points out that with this event “the Church wants to give a sign, a human gesture and a pastoral gesture, that there should be no faithful, nor anyone, only or abandoned, especially when there is this strong wound of the death of a loved one.”
The breath of Pope Leo XIV
He Priest also shared a letter, in response to his, who received from the Secretariat of State of the Vatican, in which Pope Leo XIV – with whom he had already talked about his work when he was vice president of the Peruvian Episcopate – expresses his support for the duel pastoral.
“His holiness Leo XIV appreciates this sample of cordial closeness and encourages him to continue accompanying the families that suffer for the loss of a loved one. Likewise, he entrusts him to the material protection of the blessed Virgin Mary and gives him the apostolic blessing from his heart,” says the letter.
