The Virgin Mary also awaits you at the Rural Exhibition of Buenos Aires

From Thursday the 18th to Sunday the 28th of July, espadrilles stomp on the gray everyday scene of the City of Buenos Aires, which once again becomes the venue for the great annual event of the Argentine agricultural and livestock sector: the Rural Exhibition.

Under the motto “The countryside is much more than the countryside”, the property of the Argentine Rural Society is the scene of the most important exhibition of livestock, agriculture and industry in the country.

Within this framework, shows, talks, farm, guided tours, vehicle exhibitions, traditional parades and auctions take place. There are also educational and play spaces designed for children, who are currently in the winter holidays.

But in the midst of berets, mates and gaucho pants, at the fairgrounds appears the luminous presence of the Mother and Patroness of Argentine Agriculture, María Auxiliadora, whose image blessed by Pope Francis was enthroned there in 2014, and has accompanied the event since Stand 10, located in the Ocre Pavilion, in front of the entrance on the corner of Av. Santa Fe and Av. Sarmiento.

During the days of the exhibition, and in a kind of stable prepared for her – almost like the image of the manger – María Auxiliadora receives the devotion of her children, and the intentions of the rural sector for a new year of prosperity in the fields.

This year, La Rural will be the framework of a mission that carries the motto “With Mary Help of Christians, let us sow the love of Merciful Jesus in hearts, to reap peace in the world.”

30 prayer groups from different parishes of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires joined in the initiative, which calls on visitors to the Rural to pray the chaplet to Merciful Jesus and the Rosary to the “saint protector of the fields”, declared as such in 1949, by decree of President Juan Domingo Perón.

On this occasion, the Diocese of Nueve de Julio and different folkloric groups also participate, offering serenades to the Virgin every day at 6:30 p.m.

Among the invocations of Mary that will visit the stand, the image of the Virgin of Luján “Malvinera” stands out, who in 1982 accompanied the Argentine soldiers in the war for the southern islands.

In addition to praying the Chaplet, which takes place every day at 3:00 p.m., at 5:00 p.m. the Rosary and the prayer to Mary Help of Christians are prayed.

Organized by Misiones Rurales Argentinas, two Masses will be celebrated there: on Sunday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the sales hall, and on Saturday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. on the central court. As part of the mission, there will also be priests listening to confessions.
