The Permanent Commission of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) has approved a declaration in which it expresses “its deep ecclesial communion and adherence to the Holy Father Francis, successor of the Apostle Peter, as well as to his teaching as pastor of the Universal Church.”
The bishops emphasize in the text that “as the Second Vatican Council points out, the successor of Peter is the principle and visible foundation of the unity of faith and ecclesial communion.”
In the note, the Prelates also thank the Pope “for his teachings, to the people of God, which in continuity with the tradition of the Church, make the Gospel continue to be good news for all men and women today.”
