Winter is usually associated with a palette of cold and neutral colors, such as black, gray and brown. While these shades have grown in popularity due to trends like “quiet luxury” that lean toward minimalism, Winter fashion can sometimes be somewhat monotonous and predictable. However, this 2024 the tone combinations shocking and the modern prints are of the game.
Throughout history, established designers have presented collections that challenged these style conventions, incorporating touches of color to the coldest seasons of the year. From Elsa Schiaparelli’s iconic colorful capes in the 1930s to vibrant designs inspired by the paintings of the artist Piet Mondrian that Yves Saint Laurent presented in the winter of 1965.
During the pandemic, looks with vibrant tones grew due to style dopamine dressing -consisting of wear colorful clothes to lift your spirits– but after a few seasons they were replaced by burgundy, brown and black tones.
However, 2024 marks a return to the color combinations that invade the streets and catwalks. To the pinks, violets and, of course, reds, which are setting the trend, are added shades orange, light blue, yellow and green.
To put together original outfits that mix trendy elements with classics, you can choose more urban styles with tailored pieces that provide dynamism and a modern touch. For example, yellow cargo pants, neon orange sweatshirts and a light blue cloth jacket or coat, or pink tailored pants with fuchsia sweatshirts and off-white sneakers.
Vibrant tones can also be used more sparingly, to highlight and focus on accessories or shoes. Red has been the protagonist of this look for several seasons and is ideal to combine with tailored outfits in neutral tones and prints.
Violet and lilac also stand out. He layering is a favorite slogan of cold climates and the proposal of combine different variables of the same color in layers, offers an option similar to a monochromatic outfit, but with a different touch. Anything else? Metallic boots can add another interesting detail to an evening outfit.
Accessories are essential for winter. Between scarves, hats, mittens and vestsoptions abound to add another touch of color to an outfit suitable for low temperatures.
