Saint Michael became one of the most talked about teams in Argentine football. Although it does not compete in the Professional League, Trueno Verde surprised by breaking the transfer market with the incorporation of renowned players, such as Cristian Erbes and Agustín Lavezzimovements that caused astonishment in their category. However, this also generated criticism and accusations, since it operates as a “covert SAD“even about money laundering: “Those who say that we launder money are ignorant,” said the president who does not hesitated to respond.
Federico Almada, 34, is the priest of San Miguel and owner of Jano’san event organizing company that has more than 70 rooms throughout the country and invoices, according to its owners, about 3,000 million pesos per month. The man in question gave an interview to The Sporting News, where he spoke openly about how the Buenos Aires team works.
President of San Miguel: “All income is registered”
Almada, when asked about being a SAD, responded: “Let’s put it this way: you work and have a salary, you live there and you have time to go to the movies, buy a t-shirt, a car, a bicycle, whatever. You decide what you do with that extra money. You beat him fair and square and you have the right to spend it on whatever you want.“.
“Well, I really like it, instead of buying a t-shirt and a bicycle, investing it in the club. The money is earned in good law. In fact, those who say that we launder money are truly ignorant of the economy, because this is the opposite,” he expressed.
“All income entering the club must be registered. I have double supervision with everything we are doing: the AFIP in my company and Legal Status in the club, because all the minutes and all the contracts are super audited. So it’s totally the opposite.“he assured.
Then he finished: “We have to have the money we are putting into the club justified. And in fact, this is done through a sponsorship contract. Like River has with Changomás. They say that the owner of Changomás is a River fan. Well, I am the owner of Jano’s, I am a fan of San Miguel and on top of that I am the president. I mean, what better place to invest money than in my club.”
Almada: “We are disruptive”
Along the same lines, Almada commented: “In fact, There are a lot of businessmen who contribute to the clubsbut they are a little more low profile. We are disruptive. Maybe the businessmen don’t do it, those who contribute to the clubs don’t appear as much precisely for this reason, because they talk nonsense.”
Finally, he concluded: “That is why we have an economically poor society. That is why Argentina has been mired in economic poverty for so many years, because we see those who do well or those who do well as the enemy, as something bad, as laundering money, like he’s a drug dealer and so many things they say out there”
Who are San Miguel’s luxury reinforcements?
El Trueno has a clear objective for 2025: promote to the Professional League. After failing to achieve it in 2024, San Miguel was strengthened like never before and is preparing to sweep the First National. Among the brightest names are their new coach Sebastián Battaglia and the former midfielder of Boca y Emelec Cristian Erbes.
Others who are making noise are Gino Peruzzi and Brahian Alemánplayers who are usually in the first division. Those who are already training are Agustín Lavezzi (PN top scorer), Bruno Nasta (2nd top scorer of the PN), Emanuel Dening (3rd scorer for the PN in 2023), Daniel Sappa (former Estudiantes goalkeeper), Claudio Salto, Lautaro Parisi, Claudio Mosca, Nicolas Ihitzy Gustavo Turraca.
