“I pray for the families and for all those who suffer because of this calamity, and I entrust to the Lord, through the intercession of the Holy Virgin, the souls of the deceased,” he added.
In early October 2025, Mexico was hit by landslides, landslides and catastrophic floods, mainly in the central area and the Gulf of the country. The authorities reported at least 66 dead, 65 missing and more than 300 communities cut off. Additionally, it is estimated that more than 100,000 homes were damaged or destroyed.
The Pope also once again invited the faithful to persevere in prayer for peace, especially through the communal prayer of the Rosary. “Contemplating the mysteries of Christ together with the Virgin Mary, we make the sadness and hope of the children, mothers, fathers and elderly victims of war our own,” he stated.
The Pontiff stressed that from this intercession spring “many gestures of evangelical charity, concrete closeness and solidarity.” And he added with gratitude: “To all those who every day, with confident perseverance, continue this commitment, I repeat: blessed are those who work for peace.”
Before concluding, the Pontiff addressed his usual greeting to the faithful present in St. Peter’s Square, both Romans and pilgrims arriving from various countries.
