The pilgrimage of the image of the Virgin of Fatima in Colombia culminates

After 2 years and 8 months, the pilgrimage of the image of the Virgin of Fatima for the dioceses of Colombia, a “time of grace and mercy” in which stories of conversion were known and consecrations were made consecrations.

This is the pilgrim image number 12 of the Sanctuary of Fatima (Portugal) that between June 2022 and February 2025 toured 30 dioceses and 3 apostolic vicariates, carried with devotion and reverence by the members of Mission Fátima Colombia, the organization to which the size of wood was entrusted.

Thus, after having the pilgrimage in the Archdiocese of Bogotá, the image was transferred again to Portugal to be returned on March 3 to the Marian sanctuary, built where the Virgin Mary appeared to the three shepherds in 1917.

In conversation with ACI Press, Carolina Vergara, National Mission Coordinator Fatima Colombia, said that the pilgrimage for the country was “a time of grace, hope and mercy for the Colombian people.”

“We have been able to reach very distant places”, from different social strata, to “very needy people in the spirit, perhaps with a lot of money, but very empty of heart.” The Virgin, she said, led “that message of hope and grace and mercy for Colombians, as is the event of Fatima that gives us the key of eternal salvation.”

He indicated that the pilgrimages were carried out with the permission of the local bishop and during these many people they consecrated the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as children, deprived of liberty, sick, priests, among others.

Carolina Vergara also said that in these more than 2 years there were “testimonies of conversion, physical healing and spiritual healing.” “This contact with this image raised in the hearts of many people a change in their lives, a desire for conversion, and vocations were also aroused.”

“A boy who was very close to the mission woke up the desire to be a priest. He had already been in the seminar, he had left, then returned and had the opportunity to be very close to the Virgin in some sections of her pilgrimage, and the Virgin aroused again that desire to be a priest. Nowadays he is a military seminarian, ”he said.

There were also “priests who felt the real presence of the Virgin in the visits they made to their parishes, felt comfort, felt joy.”

During the visits, catechesis was also given to the faithful about the message of the Virgin of Fatima and the history of apparitions.

“The Virgin asks us for the consecration to her immaculate heart and asks us for repair, mortification and sacrifice, especially in the repair of the devotion of the first five Saturdays of the month,” recalled the National Mission Coordinator Fatima Colombia.

Carolina Vergara said that the message of the Virgin “gives us hope (…), gives us the keys of eternal salvation that is what should care most.”

The image of the Virgin of Fatima was elaborated following the instructions of Sor Lucia. In 1947 he began to tour several countries, however, after half a century, the rectory of the Sanctuary of Fatima decided that only special occasions would come out.

However, due to the orders of the faithful, the sanctuary elaborated 13 replicas of the original image to pilgrimage around the world. Image number 12 is the one that visited Colombia.
