P. Emiliano Tardif was born on June 6, 1928 in Québec (Canada). He made his religious profession as a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart on September 8, 1949 and was ordered priest on June 24, 1955.
Soon he was sent to the Dominican Republic, where he became one of the founders of the Missionary Seminary of San José de las Matas, where he was a professor from 1956 to 1963. He became superior of the congregation in Santo Domingo from 1966 to 1973.
In July 1973 he fell ill of tuberculosis and moved to Canada. At this time he receives what for him was an extraordinary gift: the physical healing and a call of Jesus to the ministry of preaching of the Gospel, proclaiming Christ living and full of compassion and his mercy, specially to the sick and sinners.

In 1985 he received permission from his congregation to devote himself to full -time retreats, preaching in 71 countries on the five continents.
