Employees who work behind the walls of the smallest country in the world will from now on have a daycare for their children.
This initiative, according to the Vatican Governorate, represents a new stage in support for families, which responds to the needs of employees and provides them with “a safe and enriching environment for their children.”

This is the first daycare center in the Vatican, which will begin operating next spring and will have the capacity to receive 30 children between 3 and 36 months.
The objective of this new educational and social center is to help families in the growth and comprehensive training of their children, with a structured and organized space, where children will have the opportunity to grow, share and carry out activities.
Parents will be able to leave their children with educational equipment that “will help stimulate knowledge, skills and autonomy specific to each stage of their development,” the statement reports.
The center will be called “Saint Francis and Saint Clare” and will be located in a building on Via San Luca, inside the Vatican. In addition, it will be open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:30, and the activities will be carried out in Italian and English.
In the Vatican, more than 4,000 people perform various functions, including religious staff, administrative employees in the dicasteries of the Roman Curia, members of the Swiss Guard, as well as workers in financial areas, gardening, cooking, maintenance and healthcare, among others.
During the Christmas audience with Vatican employees last year, Pope Francis expressed his gratitude for their work, especially highlighting the effort they make “in daily secrecy,” carrying out tasks that, although they may seem insignificant, “contribute to offering “a service to the Church and to society.”
