The fire of God allows us to dream again in marriage and family, says Nuncio Dominican

The Apostolic Nuncio in Dominican Republic. Mons. Piergiorgio Bertoldi, affirmed that the fire of the encounter with God allows us to dream again in marriage and family.

This was said on Sunday, August 17, to celebrate the closing Mass of the International Congress that was held over this weekend in Santiago de los Caballeros.

“When we are burned by the fire of the encounter with God, then we can dream again, even in marriage and family. We can talk about love and marriage again,” said the Archbishop in his homily of the Misa in which some 600 people from all over the country and other nations participated, at the headquarters of the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Teacher (PUCMM).

Consequently, the Italian prelate continued, “you can and must speak of a ‘we’ who nourishes free, fidelity, tenderness, forgiveness. You can and must have the courage to tell that love forever is not a hyperbole of will, a claim excluded from ordinary possibilities, or a jump in the dark without a network.”

In fact, the nuncio stressed, with the fire of the love of God it is possible to “look at the loved one and say each other: ‘In my eyes, you will not die. I have understood that life next to you finally makes sense, that only walking together we can find the way, that your smile gives meaning to my days and illuminates my future. deeper from cells, but at the same time, look towards infinity. ”

At the end of the II International Congress of Marriage and Family: Source of Love and Hope, organized by the National Family Commission From the Dominican Episcopate Conference (CED), the Archbishop said that “Jesus does not domestic; He is like a fire thrown into full hands, a fire of passions that hopes to burn to transform the world, to make it fraternal, the kingdom of a God who subverts human orders, unbalance and disrupt the priorities of the deadly ‘lukewarm.”

“He is a fire, not a mellious syrup that all sweeteners and clouds, it is a miraculous presence that points to new more intense life goals,” he said.

The Apostolic Nuncio also explained that “the peace of God is not a utopia, of those that serve to accommodate us in our enclosure, safe, convinced of not risking anything: Jesus’ peace always puts everything under discussion, asks to leave the diffuse, of the indeterminate, asks to burn even at the expense of divisions, even at the expense of life.”

“A peace ‘not as the world gives it,’ Jesus left us, but a rebel peace, so restless that he does not love her quiet life and asks us to be on the side of God and his favorites: the last, the weak, the wounded by life. That is our incendiary God,” he continued.

True love is not afraid

Mons. Bertoldi also indicated that “true love is not afraid to seek the meaning of that ‘forever’, and that is why it really smells like eternity. What does this mean? That it is a love that loves and serves the gift of life, but does not conform to life, with this life.”

“Because, when love overflows and bubbles as the new wine of the lagares that cannot contain it, imagine that a single life is not enough to join the infinite list of promises and projects. And thus, love fills life, but, at the same time, it goes beyond life, does not fear death and, in the light of faith, speaks directly the language of God, precisely that of eternity.”

The Archbishop also said that “it is not crazy to think that the ‘yes’ of the spouses expresses an indefinite desire, a promise of immortality. A decision that today extends towards a tomorrow, towards a goal that moves a little further beyond day, which is always renewed to last in the categories of joy, beauty, but also of the mystery.”

The warning to warm

In his homily, the nuncio recalled that “Jesus expires the root of evil, he wants to do it with anxious lighting a fire. There are those who turn it on and those who turn it off, there are those who war Domesticate the flights and wither any color. ”

The prelate highlighted that Dante, in the Divine Comedy, “places them in the anti-inferior: they are lazy, without infamy or glory, who did not know how to take a posture, they did not align, they did not commit themselves, unworthy even of hell and forced to run without end.”

“They are those who ‘never were alive’, spectators of life that passes by their side, of the tragedies that do not touch their heart, of the pain of others that do not hurt them, undifferent by selfishness or cowardice. They are those who neither heat nor cool, which will be vomited on the last day (Apocalypse 3.16)”.

Congress themes

In a note sent by the National Family Commission of the CED, it was reported that the first day included conferences and workshops that addressed the mission of the family from faith, conflict management, resilience and growth in love in each stage of marriage.

The second day was marked by life testimonies and panels in which marriages shared how the family pastoral accompanies and strengthens households amid the current challenges.

He also congratulated himself and publicly recognized the movements of family spirituality: happy marriage, Christian family movement, world marriage encounter, couples dynamics, teams of Our Lady and the Catholics meeting for boyfriends “for the great work they have been developing so many years in favor of the family.”
