Messages from America and Spain
The Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM) wrote in X: “Today we celebrated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the dawn that announces the arrival of salvation. His birth reminds us that God always fulfills his promises with love and hope.”
The Latin American bishops also shared an excerpt from the homily of San Juan Pablo Ll during Mass in Frascati, on September 8, 1980: “Ioh Virgin Nascent, Hope and Aurora of Salvation for the whole world, your maternal gaze is Benign Benign towards all of us, gathered here to celebrate and proclaim your glories!”
The Economist and Procurator of Vox Jesús García-Conde joined the commemoration: “The Virgin Mary turns today. Thank you, mother, for saying yes to God and showing us the path of humility and trust.”
The daughters of the charity of Ecuador shared a message of gratitude: “It is born on the soil so beautiful and with such a celestial light, that, with being a star, it is such that the same sun is born from it. A virgin is born with promise of redemption and life for the world. It is Maria newborn. Happy party of the Native of Mary!”
From Spain, the Archdiocese of Toledo recalled that Mary leads to Christ: “At the party of the Nativity of Mary we have present to so many parish communities that today celebrate it under various advocations. May Mary be for all the mother who takes us to Jesus!”

Advanced Católica, the Movement of Laity of Ecclesia Sancta, wrote on social networks: “The Nativity of Mary is an event of immense importance, since his birth, free of original sin, represents the fulfillment of God’s promise to humanity. When coming to the world, Mary became the vehicle of the eternal fidelity of God, the woman chosen to be the mother of Christ and to crush the head of the snake.”
A universal celebration
The Church celebrates the Nativity of the Virgin nine months after the solemnity of its Immaculate Conception. It is one of the only three birth parties that are commemorated in the liturgical calendar, together with that of Jesus and San Juan Bautista.
