The eight Argentine destinations nominated among the best towns in the world

Of the 32 towns of 17 provinces who presented themselves to participate in the fourth edition of the Best Tourism Villages organized by UN Tourism, the Undersecretariat of Tourism of the Nation selected eight destinations to represent Argentina in this world competition.

“The initiative recognizes rural destinations where tourism has been effectively adopted as an opportunity or as a tool for sustainable growth and to preserve cultural and natural heritage. Looking ahead to the 2024 edition, we look forward to seeing more examples of tourism as a positive force,” said UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, launching this new 2024 edition.

What are the Best Tourism Villages

The Best Tourism Villages initiative aims to offer recognition to towns with few inhabitants (low demographic density) that are an example of tourism in rural environments with activities such as agriculture, livestock or fishing.

It’s not enough to just be a small town. They must also have cultural and natural assets recognized and have the initiative to promote and preserve community-based values, products and lifestyles.
