The statutory bill 014 of 2024 was presented by the legislator Luis Losada and intended to legalize euthanasia even for minors and people with non -terminal diseases.

The text received 90 votes in favor and 42 against. However, it required the support of 94 legislators as it is a statutory law that addresses a fundamental right.

The parliamentarian said that “euthanasia is not dignity” or dignified death, because “what it does is kill the patient.”
