The city of Bogotá will host from July 29 to 31 the great National Meeting of Ecclesial Movements and New Communities under the motto “The laity are not part of the Church, they are the Church”, inspired by Pope Pius XII.
The event is organized by the Episcopal Conference of Colombia (CEC) and will be held at the San Pedro Claver Encounters House, in the town of Suba. The objective is to “boost the missionary force of the laity in a synodality key, renewing its role as a sign of hope for the country in the jubilee year,” said the episcopate on its website.

César Alcides Balvín Tamayo, Bishop of Carthage and member of the Episcopal Commission of the Laical State, recalled in his message of call that “ecclesial movements are a sign of fertility of the spirit in the life of the Church. The National Meeting will also take place after the jubilee of the movements held in Rome last June. The last time the Church in Colombia celebrated an event of this type was in 2018.
The Episcopper reported that registrations are open for representatives of all the ecclesiastical jurisdictions of the country and can be carried out In this link.
