The Chosen: The Last Supper, arrives in Latin America in July

The Chosen: The Last Supper, the fifth season of the series that tells Jesus’ life from the look of his disciples, arrives in Latin America on July 13.

Acclaimed by the international public, and with a cinematographic premiere that was a blockbuster, raising almost 60 million dollars, the production now reaches the homes of Latin America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Sub -Saharan Africa, through the Prime Video platform.

The premiere will be done in three parts: the first one, which consists of two chapters, will be on July 13, followed by three episodes on July 20 and the last three, on July 27.

This season, which in the United States will premiere on June 15, tells the last days of Jesus – interpreted by Catholic actor Jonathan Rouumie – before his Easter, since he is received as king in Jerusalem, to later clashes. In this season, he will face the betrayal and abandonment of his, enmity with the authorities of his time, and the sacrifice of redemption.

In Dialogue with CNA “Ewtn News Advancement,” the protagonist of the series shared his experience playing Jesus at historical moments such as the Last Supper and the Washing of the Feet, especially from his experience as a Catholic.

“For me, it was living the liturgy,” he said in an interview on March 19, during the premiere of the fifth season in Dallas, Texas (United States). “I try to replicate as best as possible the authenticity of these scenes based on my liturgical experience,” he said.

“I hope you have the same feeling as when we did, because there were times when many were left with tears in our eyes just after the scene, or during it. It is really beautiful,” he anticipated.

In total, the series led by Dallas Jenkins and produced by 5 & 2 Studios, consists of seven seasons. Season 6, which is now in full production, tells Jesus’ crucifixion, while the last one will show the mystery of his resurrection.
