In a note published yesterday on your websitethe Episcopate indicates that “it joins this initiative, which seeks to transcend any type of political or religious proselytism, to strongly proclaim: ‘With Jesus Christ, Colombia in peace’.”

The ecumenical day will take place starting at noon and will have spaces for prayer, praise, adoration and reflection. The CEC note adds that “the request for forgiveness for the blood shed and the sins of the nation will also be promoted; as well as prayer for the security of the territories, for families and for the presence of God.”

The president of the Episcopal Commission for the Promotion of Christian Unity and Interreligious Dialogue, Mons. Francisco Antonio Ceballos Escobar, invited the faithful to participate in this “public manifestation of our faith.”

For his part, the assistant secretary of the CEC, Fr. Raúl Ortiz Toro, expressed that “Jesus is the center of our lives and the ecumenical movement that is organizing this day is a movement that also wants Colombia, around our Lord Jesus Christ , find peace.

“The path to reconciliation in our country necessarily involves the reconciliation of hearts, through peace in families, and that can only be achieved when we also open the doors of our hearts to our Lord Jesus Christ,” he added.

In Bogotá, the meeting point will be the National Park and from there it will travel to Plaza de Bolívar, in the center of the capital.

Armenia, Barranquilla, Buenaventura, Cali, Cúcuta, Garzón, Ibagué, Montería, Popayán, Sincelejo, Villavicencio, among others, will also join. To find out which other cities will participate and the meeting points, you can go to www.concristocolombiaenpaz.org
