On the afternoon of this Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the body of Venerable José Torres Padilla, Spanish priest co-founder of the Company of the Sisters of Cross, was exhumed to obtain relics, shortly after the Dicastery for the Causes of the Saints recognized a miracle performed through his intercession that enables his next beatification.
The event, held in the Mother House of the religious congregation, was attended by the Archbishop of Seville, Mons. José Ángel Saiz Meneses, his auxiliary bishops Mons. Teodoro León – who was diocesan postulator of the cause – and Mons. Ramón Valdivia, as well as the Mother General of the Company, Sister Reyes de la Cruz.
It was the prelates themselves who carried, with the help of other ecclesiastics, the coffin of Father Torres from the crypt where he was buried, through the cloister, to the place where the body was recognized and some relics were obtained.
