Since this tradition began, more than 300 children have been baptized with the bishop and some more privately.
Last weekend the prelate went to the parish of San Josemaría Escrivá in the town of Alcorcón, where the babies received the baptismal waters. All of them are alive thanks to the action of the Más Futuro Association and the Juan Pablo II Rescuers.
Both organizations go to the vicinity of abortion centers and offer information and help to mothers who are at risk of abortion.
During his homily, Bishop García stressed the value of human life, not just earthly life. by reminding parents that “through Baptism, your children will not only have the life that you have given them, but also the inheritance of Eternal Life. That is, life is something very serious,” according to informs the Diocese of Getafe.
“A culture that defends death is a culture called to die. But a culture that defends life is called to live. And we are made not for death, but for life,” he added.
The prelate also claimed that “life belongs to the Lord,” not to each one of us, and, furthermore, it is a miracle: “When you see a child, it happens to me, and you look at the little hands, the little feet, the ears, the nails, and you say: ‘My God, what a miracle, what a miracle life is!’. Who can do this? Only God can do this. Therefore, I am not the owner of life, but the “God is the owner of life.”
On the other hand, he added how parents collaborate with Creation: “God, the greatest thing he has given to men, besides existence, is to be able to collaborate with him in the work of creation. And that, dear dads, dear moms, this is what you have done. Be creators with God.”
A life that never ends
“I’m sure that now when you look at the children,” he said, addressing the fathers and mothers, “you thank God and say: ‘How great God is and that he has made me a participant in giving life to this precious child!'”
“The Christian is one who feels grateful because all life is a gift. Because all life is a plot that is in mystery and a mystery that is a gift,” he added.
“Do you want good for your children? Well, God wants even more. He wants a life that never ends. Eternal Life. We are made for heaven. Your children are made for heaven,” the Bishop of Getafe highlighted in his homily.
In reference to the pro-life volunteers, Bishop García denounced that “many times, there are those who want to tie up, put handcuffs, take the faith of the Church to prison, because of the vision of man and of life that the Church has, which has received it from the Lord.”
And he added: “The Gospel is never imprisoned, it will always be above our own poverty, sins, slavery. Therefore, I heartily encourage you to continue working, do not get tired.”
The prelate finally invited us to pray to the Virgin Mary for the baptized children: “Although things are difficult, although there may be persecution, although I live through difficult times, Immaculate Mother, may we not get tired.”
“May I not get tired of educating my son, may I not get tired of saying what He has meant to me in life, may I not get tired of showing him the path of Jesus Christ, the path of Eternal Life. And to you, those who form Más Futuro, may you not get tired of betting on life, fighting for life, defending life,” he concluded.
