The Toyota Corolla, the country’s best-selling midsize sedan, started the year with new features in its range. The most important corresponds to the second redesign of the GR-S sports variant, although there were also equipment updates for the rest of the versions.
In 2024, the Corolla occupied 11th place in the general ranking of patents with 10,868 units sold, being the fourth best-selling Toyota model in Argentina behind Hilux, Yaris and Corolla Cross.
Among sedans, it was the second best-seller behind the compact Fiat Cronos and number one among midsize cars, a category it shares with Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra and Volkswagen Vento.
What does the renewed Corolla GR-S have?
The model developed by Gazoo Racing, the sports division of the Japanese brand, received an aesthetic update and improvements in mechanics and equipment.
In terms of design, the nose was modified, now with a new grill with more angular air intakes that optimize wind flow to improve maneuverability. At the rear, the optics were renewed (transparent with a black background) and a new diffuser and a spoiler were added that, according to the brand, improve the performance and performance of the vehicle. In addition, it incorporated newly designed 17” wheels.
In mechanical matters, Toyota worked on the calibration of the steering and a tune-up of the box to improve dynamic behavior at high speeds.
The engine remains the same 2.0-liter direct injection, which delivers a power of 171 HP and is coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Corolla GR-S also received improvements in technology. The Safety Sense package (available across the range) incorporated full-range adaptive cruise control (now it stops and can restart) and active lane keeping system (intervenes in the steering so that the vehicle does not drift), while maintaining autonomous braking, the automatic high beam system and blind spot and cross traffic alerts.
In turn, the model incorporated front and rear parking sensors.
Improvements in the rest of the range
The entire Corolla range incorporated a new 10” multimedia center with wireless connectivity Android Auto and Apple Car Play (replacing the previous 9”), eliminating the physical buttons on its left side. In turn, all USB ports became “type C”.
For its part, the XEI version added new 17” wheels and paddles on the steering wheel (only in the gasoline variant) to control the sequential mode of the transmission.
Finally, the SEG and GR-S versions incorporated the Connected Servicesan on-board assistance solution that, through the Toyota application, allows customers to access key information about the status and use of the vehicle for free, and receive 24-hour service. and track your unit, among other functions.
