The order of San Agustín in Colombia reported that the priest Carlos Saúl Jaimes has been released after more than a month of being missing and already “is safe and except with his family.”
The Augustinian friar had disappeared on June 17 in the municipality of Viotá, department of Cundinamarca, where he carried out his pastoral service. That same day the protocols were activated to locate it.

“With deep gratitude in the heart, we want to share with all of you, friends, faithful, religious communities, and people of good will who have been pending, news that fills us with joy: our brother, Fr. Carlos Saúl Jaimes has been released And he is already safe and except with his family, ”the order reported in a statement published on July 27.
The Agustina Order does not give information from who retained all this time to the priest or how his release was achieved.
In his statement, the Augustinians thank God for having sustained the friar these difficult days, as well as those who joined in prayer, because they gave “a beautiful testimony of communion and shared faith.”
They also indicate that now begins for Fr. Carlos Saúl Jaimes “a period of recovery, serenity and fraternal accompaniment within the religious community and his family.”
Therefore, they ask that “they accompany him with respect, understanding and prayer,” because the priest “needs to meet the peace and calm that were taken from him these days.”
“We continue to trust the force of the Gospel that invites us to hope and reconciliation. That the Lord bless you all and reward them so well,” concludes the statement.
