“For that reason why faith gives meaning to life: it makes it more beautiful. Furthermore, according to the young people interviewed, faith is associated with the ability to forgive and be supportive of one another. When asked only to atheists if, despite not believing in God, they sometimes pray or if they do so at specific moments in life, more than one in two (52%) answered yes.
How do young people experience the parish reality?
“Even comparing our data with other research,” Galatolo indicated, “it can be seen that the Church (specifically the parishes) could do more to get closer to the world of young people, who often perceive “boredom and formality” in parish environments.
“This does not mean that among the Catholics interviewed the Church is perceived in the majority of cases (64%) as a human and divine institution wanted by Jesus for the good of men. “This tells us that, among those who remain or return to the Church after the age of 18, the image of the Church is substantially positive and that the relationship with it is significant in their lives,” he stated.
