Sponsor a synod: Pray for the participants of the Synod of Synodality

The General Secretariat of the Synod together with the Pope’s World Prayer Network launched a prayer campaign to “sponsor a synodal father or mother” so that the Holy Spirit guides their participation.

“Join in prayer with the Synod Fathers and Mothers during this Assembly. When you enter your email, we will assign you the name of a member of the Synod so that you can sponsor him with your prayer,” indicates the official website.

“Accompany their journey until the closing of the Synodal Assembly on October 27, 2024. Join and share this initiative with your community,” the publication adds.

In total, there are 368 participants — of which 96 are not bishops. In addition, there are 45 women with the right to vote. The list of participants is divided into 3 different groups: the members, those with the right to vote; special guests and other participants.

In a recent video for the Click To Pray platformthe Holy Father asked to pray “together with all those who participate in this second session of the Synod, every day, every day.”

About the Synod of Synodality

The Synod on Synodality is a process convened by Pope Francis to deepen the understanding and practice of synodality within the Church.

Synodality refers to walking together as the people of God, listening and dialoguing among all members of the Church, from the faithful to the clergy and ecclesiastical hierarchy, in order to discern what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church in the current context.

This synodal process aims to involve as many people as possible, encouraging the participation of lay people, religious and clergy in reflecting on issues important to the life of the Church, such as communion, participation and mission.
