The president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), Mons. Luis Argüello, has sent a letter to the King of Spain, Felipe VI, in which he expresses on behalf of the Spanish bishops “our most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his proclamation as King of Spain”, which is celebrated this Wednesday, June 19.
Bishop Argüello highlights that “His Majesty’s service to Spain and the Spanish people, which he performs with generous dedication and dedication, is truly valuable in the times in which we live.”

In his opinion, the monarch’s task “serves to strengthen the ties between all Spaniards and the unity of our nation and to point out the needs and concerns that affect our society and that, together, we must address.”
The president of the EEC also expresses “our best wishes” and conveys to the monarch that the Spanish prelates invoke “the blessing of the Lord on His Majesty and the service he diligently renders to the Spanish people.”
“Please extend our affection and prayers to Her Majesty the Queen and the entire Royal Family,” the letter concludes.
Audience of King Felipe to Mons. Argüello
On June 10, Felipe VI received Bishop Argüello in audience on the occasion of his election as president of the EEC last March. The meeting took place at the Zarzuela Palace and took place “in an atmosphere of utmost cordiality,” according to the CEE.
For almost an hour, the Head of State and Bishop Argüello maintained “a fluid dialogue on matters of general interest” and exchanged “impressions about the social situation and the role of the Church in society.”
On that occasion, Mons. Argüello gave the King of Spain a copy of the latest Memory of activities of the Catholic Church in Spain and a copy of the Holy Bible of Nácar-Colunga, in a facsimile edition commemorating the 80th anniversary of its publication by the Library of Christian Authors (BAC) and the book San Isidro Labradoron the IV centenary of his canonization.
