The City Council of Seville (Spain) will name the street where the city’s Metropolitan Seminary is located after its archbishop between 2009 and 2021, Mons. Juan José Asenjo.
The honoree as well as his successor, the Archbishop of Seville, Mons. José Ángel Saiz Meneses, and various civil authorities will attend the placement of the plaques with the new name of what until now was Tarfia Street.
The proposal to pay this tribute to the archbishop emeritus came from the mayor of the city, José Luis Sanz, who announced the measure last November, highlighting that the prelate was a “strong defender of heritage, culture, social works and religiosity” of the city.
