Sister Petrini, who has served as general secretary of the same governor since November 2021, provides extensive academic and administrative experience to her new role.
Born in Rome on January 15, 1969, she has a degree in Political Science from the Libera Università Internalore Degli Studi Guido Carli and Doctor from the Pontifical University of Santo Tomás de Aquino, where she is currently a professor.
Before her appointment in the governor, Sister Petrini worked in the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples from 2005 to 2021.
This appointment follows the recent designation of Sister Simona Brambilla as Prefect of Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life, marking a continuous tendency of women in leadership positions within the Vatican.
In a recent television interview, the Pope had already expressed his intention to promote Sister Petrini.
