The Congress also had the participation of Mons. José Ignacio Munilla, Bishop of Orihuela-Aliante and the director of Human Life International, Francesco Giordano.
In addition, they offered their testimony the extrabajadora of Planned Parenthood Ramona Treviño and the testimony of Aéneida, a mother who gave up the idea of aborting her son thanks to the presence of the 40 -day volunteers for life.
In conversation with ACI Press, Carney shares that, in the election of Barcelona as the headquarters for this celebration, he has weighed “the growth that the campaign has had in Spain and its excellent leadership” in recent years despite the fact that “it took us a long time take off here. ”
To the increase in places where prayer campaigns are carried out every year in the vicinity of the abortion centers during Advent and Lent, and the desire expressed by many to develop new campaigns, Carney highlights “the great support of the Catholic Church.”
Specifically, it emphasizes that in all the dioceses in which there is a campaign there is the support of the residential bishop and that “they have never expelled us from a diocese.”
Carney is no stranger to the difficulties in the country, so he compromises his prayers “to return to his beautiful and rich Catholic heritage. Spain is a country too big to tolerate something as bad as abortion. ”
On the other hand, there is a conjunctural reason. “There has never been a greater impulse to the Movement Provida in the US. That today and we will overflow to Europe,” says Carney, aware of the role that the debate on abortion played in the re -election of Donald Trump.
“Practically half of our country, 26 states, have banned abortion or legislated in a very restrictive way,” the leader provides. And a meteorite has not hit the earth. The world is not over because we have turned Roe vs Wade. ”
“So we want the USA to say to Europe that to be part of Western civilization” does not need to support abortion. In this sense, Carney added that “the future seems very hopeful. This is one of the few cultural fronts we are winning. ”
Regarding the cause decreed in the early days of his second term, Carney stressed that President Donald Trump “stopped financing Planned Parenthood at international level,” which has a great impact on Hispanic America.
Not surprisingly, he details “It is the largest abortion organization in the world. They have exported abortion, especially to places where they do not believe that they have children like Africa or South America ”, under the family brand”.
This contrasts with the perception of the coming of children in Latin American countries where, “people are in favor of life and love the family.”
This is the case, he explained, in Colombia and Mexico, where “children and family look like something good, not as a burden” regardless of “if you have enough money”, because under that criterion “no one would have children.”
However, Carney regretted that “their governments are in favor of abortion.” In spite of everything, he said: “I am optimistic with the closure of abortions throughout Latin America, but people will decide if 40 days for life will succeed.”
