In view of the upcoming celebration of Seminary Day, on March 19 in Spain, the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) has published statistics on seminarians, confirming the drop in the number of new candidates for the priesthood, below 150, as well as that of ordinations and the total number of seminarians.
Specifically, in the 2023-2024 academic year the Church in Spain is training a total of 956 seminarians (18 less than last year), of which 143 are first year. Throughout 2023, those who have received the sacrament of Priestly Orders in the degree of priests have been 79, (18 less than in 2022).
