Transhumanism, as a scientific and cultural movement, raises the possibility and desirability of modifying human biology through the convergence of new technologies. According to Mariano Asla, in statements given to ACI Prensa, this current seeks to create a new “transitional” species, in which the limits between the biological and the artificial are completely blurred.
In the words of Dr. Asla, these are supposedly “healthier, more intelligent, more empathetic and long-lived” beings, modified from artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, nanotechnology and biotechnology.
However, along with the promises of improvement, significant ethical challenges and moral dilemmas also arise that will be addressed during the course at the Paraná seminar.
