“The future is Super.” That is the slogan that the Swedish brand used to define the arrival in the country of Scania Súper, the new truck platform equipped with the powertrain most efficient in its history.
And perhaps it is not an exaggeration, because it has an unprecedented 13-liter engine – probably the last thermal engine before becoming electrified – which according to the company can save up to 8% fuel, reduce polluting emissions and provide much higher driving comfort.
This powertrain, for which more than two billion euros In its development, it is completed with the new G25 and G33 boxes and the simple reduction rear axle.
Its structure is also new, as it has a modular chassis that allows better integration with the body and weight distribution, providing a tailored truck solution for each client, regardless of the application for which it is used.
Greater power and efficiency
As we said, the big secret of Scania Super is hidden under the cabin. And it is related to the new 13-liter six-cylinder engine more powerful so far.
Approved with the Euro VI standard in Europe (Euro V for the region), it can be powered by biofuels and offers four power ranges ranging from 420 horsepower and 2,200 Nm of torque to 550 horsepower and 2,800 Nm of torque.
The engine was designed with materials that help reduce friction, an increased compression ratio (22:1), an unprecedented cylinder head with double overhead camshafts, an optimized valve train and a new engine optimization unit. fuel.
In turn, the Opticruise G25 and G33 gearboxes, with a 12+2 forward and up to eight reverse gear configuration, are between 60 and 75 kilos lighter compared to previous platforms.
In addition, they have new gear designs and a renewed oil flow distribution that guarantees lower friction and contributes to reducing internal losses by 50%. These transmission components are manufactured at the Scania plant located in the province of Tucumán and are 100% exported to the world.
Another new feature of Scania Super is the compression release brake (CRB) included in the standard version, which guarantees better braking performance of the engine. This solution can even replace or complement the Scania R4700D Retarder, depending on your operation.
Scania Súper adds several driving assistance (Adas 2.0), which improve the already known systems (autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control). Among them we can highlight the Lane Departure Alert with active steering assistance, the collision prevention assistant (corrects the steering if it detects that the truck is closing in on a vehicle advancing on its right), blind spot alert with detection of pedestrians and cyclists (on the right side).
The line is available in 4×2, 4×4, 6×2, 6×4, 6×6, 8×2 and 8×4 configurations, which allows it to be adapted to any transport operation, and is even among the options of the XT range, specially designed for extra heavy tasks in conditions. demanding, such as mining and the Oil & Gas industry.
