The Sanctuary of Fatima, in Portugal, has launched an alert on false websites, “before the growing number of pages, profiles and groups that intend to imitate” official channels.
“The proliferation of false pages has received special attention and concern, especially because, making you pass through the Sanctuary of Fatima, many direct users to groups and messaging applications for doubtful purposes,” The sanctuary affirmsthat “vehemently condemns these practices.”

The sanctuary published a video entitled “Sanctuary of Fatima on social networks” to “answer the many questions that torment those who follow the institution.”
The video highlights some features that help identify the official pages of the sanctuary on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, such as the verified account badge.
It also emphasizes that the sanctuary has 1.3 million followers on Facebook and that the content published in the official and false pages are different.
“The Sanctuary of Fatima never exposes people in vulnerable situations, such as diseases or poverty; he never directs users to messaging applications; he never encourages people to join groups,” he says.
The sanctuary also asks users to denounce false pages and, in case of doubt, to contact us through email info@fatima.pt
