4. The footprints of your feet
The group “Artistas Sahuayenses” – from Sahuayo, where the Saint was born – wanted to honor Joselito with a hymn titled “The Footprints of Your Feet.” The lyrics recall that Mexican army soldiers tore the skin from the boy’s feet with a knife and forced him to walk to his grave, leaving many bloody footprints in his wake.
“I want to keep Joseph young at heart, follow the footprints of your feet that lead to heaven. I want to have José the same courage as you, shouting Long live Christ the King! like a cristero,” says part of the lyrics.
