Saint Patrick’s Massacre: Pope Francis is presented with a painting tribute to the Pallottines murdered in Argentina

This April 10, Pope Francis received a painting that pays tribute to the five Pallottines murdered in Argentina in 1976, in the event known as “The Saint Patrick Massacre.”

On Wednesday morning, after the General Audience, the Holy Father greeted several members of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (SAC), known as Pallottines, from Ireland, Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Uruguay , Argentina, the United States, Australia, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Cameroon and Tanzania.

The brief meeting was the occasion to present the Pope with a painting titled “The stones will scream”, in homage to the priests Alfredo Leaden, Alfie Kelly and Pedro Dufau, and the seminarians Emilio Barletti and Salvador Barbeito, murdered on July 4, 1976 in the parish house of San Patricio, in the city of Buenos Aires, one of the bloodiest attacks of the last military dictatorship in the country.
