Saint of the day February 13: Saints Fusca and Maura. Catholic Saints

When Fusca’s father found out what his daughter had done, he flew into a rage against her and Maura, blaming her for having disgraced his family.

The man then ordered the two women to be locked in the basement of the house, where they were left without food or drink for three days. His intention was to give them such a lesson that when they were free they would only have to apologize for having been baptized.

However, this did not happen. The father, out of his mind, sought by other means to get his daughter to return to the family’s pagan cult. Seeing that she could not bend her will, he himself denounced her to Governor Quinciano, who had already condemned Saint Agatha to martyrdom a short time before. Fusca, aware of her fate, after being accused of it, entrusted herself to God and declared that she feared neither torment nor death because she trusted in the promises of Christ and she believed in the resurrection.
