The saint, warned of the temptation, with a quick and violent movement, crushed the crow in one, while the perfect response came from his lips: “Today, today, today!”, which in Spanish means: “Today, today, today!” “I will not leave anything for tomorrow, from today I will be a Christian,” the future martyr told himself. From then on, Expedito lived his Christian faith until the final moment of his life, when it was his turn to shed his blood for Jesus Christ.
A saint for today
Saint Expedite’s quick and forceful response to the temptation of tomorrow has made him a model and intercessor when urgent problems arise and a quick decision must be made and action taken. For this reason, today he is venerated as the patron saint of those who suffer the consequences of ‘procrastination’ or postpone their duties or obligations, a habit so common in our times.
