Saint Benedict Abbot, whose feast day the Catholic Church celebrates this July 11, is known for being a great exorcist. That is why we share with you three moments in which the saint counteracted the attacks that the devil launched against his monks and the place where they lived.
The story of the life of Saint Benedict is found in a work called The dialogues, written by Saint Gregory the Great. There the holy pontiff describes that the monks of Saint Benedict, during the construction of his monastery, wanted to move a stone but, although there were several of them, they could not.

Understanding that it was the evil one, who was sitting on the rock, they asked Saint Benedict for help. The abbot arrived, began to pray and gave the blessing. Immediately, the monks were able to quickly lift the stone.
On another occasion, the monks were digging in the ground when they found a bronze idol. They put it momentarily in the kitchen, but then they realized that fire was coming out of the object. No matter how much water they poured on it, it didn’t go out and they feared that everything would catch on fire.
Saint Benedict arrived but did not see the fire. Then, he realized that the only ones who saw him were his followers. He began to pray and the monks woke up from that false demonic illusion.
The devil did not stay still and one day, when the saint was going to pray in a secluded hermitage, he saw him pass by under the guise of a veterinarian. Saint Benedict asked him where he was going and he replied that he was going to give a potion to his monks.
The saint continued on his way and after praying he returned to the monastery. When he arrived he saw that the evil one had possessed an old monk and was tormenting him with extreme cruelty.
The great exorcist Saint Benedict immediately came to his aid, slapped him and the devil fled in fear.
