This April 15th commemorates a little-known saint called Saint Abundio, who apparently lived cloistered in the Vatican and performed a surprising miracle thanks to the intervention of Saint Peter the Apostle himself.
On the saints research website Saints and Blesseds It is indicated that San Abundio was a “mansionary” of the Basilica of San Pedro, a term that according to the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language (RAE) refers to an ecclesiastic who lives in a cloister. Vatican Newsthe Vatican news website, introduces him as “Vatican cleric.”
Saint Abundio is known thanks to Pope Saint Gregory the Great (approx. 540-604), who presents him as someone very humble and diligent in divine service. He does not specify what era he lived in, but according to Vatican News he died in 564.
