“This influences their calculations about whether they want to even try to have a family now,” DeSantis continued. “That’s why we’ve done things like making all baby items in Florida tax-free. So diapers, wipes, cribs, strollers, formula, all that: tax free,” he said.
DeSantis also said religious freedom in the United States needs a strong advocate.
“On religious freedom, we are not where we need to be,” DeSantis said. “This country was founded on the idea that the right to free exercise of religion is given by God and cannot be infringed by the government,” he stressed.
Citing examples such as former Washington State high school coach Joseph Kennedy, who ultimately won a case in the U.S. Supreme Court after being fired for praying in the field During a football game, DeSantis indicated that religious freedom in the country remains “very much at stake.”
