Rome welcomes more than 6,000 seminarists, bishops and priests in the framework of the Clergy Jubilee

More than 6,000 seminarians, bishops and priests from the five continents have traveled this week to Rome to celebrate the jubilee of the clergy in the framework of the Holy Year 2025.

As reported by the Dicasterio for Evangelization, the program, which takes place between June 23 and 27, includes moments of prayer, catechesis, concerts, retired pilgrimages, Eucharistic celebrations, in addition to different meetings with Pope Leo XIV.

This Monday, June 23, a welcome event takes place to the seminarians in the Basilica of San Pablo Extramuros, at 5:00 p.m. (local time) in which a community prayer of the Rosary and a concert is planned by the Choir of the Diocese of Rome and the “Fidels et Amati” orchestra, directed by Mons. Marco Frisina.

On Tuesday, June 24, the seminarians are expected to perform the pilgrimage to the Holy Gate of San Pedro at 8:00 (local time). In addition, at 11:00 they will listen to a catechesis of Pope Leo XIV, in what will mean his first official meeting with seminarians from all over the world. The day will conclude with multilingual Eucharistic celebrations at 18:00 in ten churches in the center of Rome, chaired by different bishops.

Bishop Day: Communion and Faith

On Wednesday, June 25, the jubilee of the bishops who have come, according to data from the evangelization, of about 50 countries, including Italy, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, the United States and the Philippines are celebrated.

At 10:30, the bishops will concelebrate the Mass at the altar of the Chair of the Basilica of San Pedro, chaired by Cardinal Marc Ouellet, Prefect Emeritus of the Dicastery for the Bishops. Next, the Pope will offer a special catechesis to the prelates, concluding with a profession of joint faith on the tomb of the apostle Peter.

That same day in the afternoon the jubilee of the priests will begin, in which several catechesis divided by linguistic groups offered by bishops in 12 churches in the center of Rome are planned.

On Thursday, June 26, the priests will participate in a jubilee Mass in San Pedro, chaired by the prefect of Dicastery for the clergy, Cardinal Lazzaro You Heung-Sik. From 11:00 to 18:00, they are expected to pilgrimage to the saints of the 4 major basilicas. The day will culminate with a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m. in the Basilica of San Pedro, chaired by Mons. Rino Fisichella, pre-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, with testimonies of a seminarist, a bishop and a priest.

Priestly ordinations in the closing of the jubilee

The culminating point of the Jubilee Week will be the Eucharistic celebration of Friday, June 27, solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, chaired by Pope Leo XIV in the Basilica of San Pedro.

During the Mass, the Pope will confer the priestly order to 31 new presbyters from all over the world: Italy, India, Sri Lanka, Romania, Central African Republic, San Vicente and Las Grenadinas, Cameroon, Angola, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, South Korea, Mexico, Uganda, Australia, Brazil, Brazil, Croatia, Croatia, Croatia, Croatia.
