Replica of the Heart of Jesus dynamited in the Civil War on pilgrimage through Spain

A replica of the monument to the Heart of Jesus on Cerro de los Ángeles, which was shot and dynamited during the Civil War, will go on pilgrimage starting this Friday, April 5, through different Madrid parishes and will soon do so throughout Spain.

This monument was shot on July 28 and dynamited on August 7, 1936, less than a month after the Civil War began. None of the bullets managed to hit the Heart and, when it was dynamited, the block of stone where it was sculpted remained intact.

The nuns of the Carmel of Cerro de los Ángeles, founded in 1925, have since guarded this stone, more than one and a half meters wide and one meter high, where you can see six bullet holes around the heart.
