In a social media post, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) wrote that as the cathedral reopens, “local churches across the United States are invited to ring their bells.” in a gesture of unity.”

Notre Dame will open its doors to the public on December 7, beginning with a triduum that will include the official inauguration of the cathedral by the French state, which owns and maintains most of the country’s cathedrals as historic sites.
The altar of Notre Dame will be consecrated on December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, during the first Mass in the now restored cathedral.
