The Archdiocese of Burgos in Spain reported that Brother Florentino Martínez de la Cerda, of the Order of Saint John of God, died at the age of 85 in a traffic accident in the Cantabria region.
The accident occurred in the town of Santiurde de Reinosa, when the religious man was heading to the city of Burgos “to participate in an act of solidarity dentists that he himself had promoted at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Burgos to care for people in need.” , points out a note of the Archdiocese.
According to the General Directorate of Traffic, the religious man had suffered a mechanical failure in the car he was driving on the N-611 highway, around 10:40 (local time) on Saturday, February 10.
