Priests from Paraguay and Chile were expelled from the clerical state

The Archbishopric of Antofagasta (Chile) and the Bishopric of San Lorenzo (Paraguay) reported that priests from those ecclesial jurisdictions were expelled from the clerical state.

In the Paraguayan case, it is Father Jorge Ramírez Aquino, who has received the penalty of resignation from the clerical state and the dispensation from Sacred Order, Sacred Celibacy and the obligations of Sacred Ordination, according to a statement dated December 27, signed by the Bishop of San Lorenzo, Mons. Joaquín Hermes Robledo Romero.

From now on, “he is excluded from the exercise of Holy Orders, he can no longer exercise the priestly ministry, he cannot preside over the celebration of the Eucharist, he cannot preach homilies, he cannot hear confessions, nor administer sacraments, nor perform any leadership position in the pastoral sphere.

According to the portal Last Minutethe Bishop confirmed that the decision is due to the fact that the former priest led an “incoherent life” and “has not behaved appropriately as a priest in terms of obligations.”

In Chile, the Archbishopric of Antofagasta informed the community that the Holy Father has resigned from the clerical state to Ramón Gustavo Miranda Allende, “due to abandonment of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church”, after joining the so-called Ecumenical Apostolic Catholic Church Santa María al pie of the Cross.

This institution clarifies the statement“is not in communion with our Church, nor is it subject to the authority of the bishop of the diocese, nor of the Pope at the universal level.”

“It should be remembered that Miranda Allende had been suspended from her duties since 2021 while a criminal administrative process was carried out for a complaint of sexual abuse of an adult,” the statement states.
