Priest tells history of the power of the Sacred Heart of Jesus before evil in a house of nuns

Fr. Juan Carlos Vásconez, a priest known for his digital evangelizing work and rector of the San Josemaría Escrivá Church of Guayaquil, shared a story about the power of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and recalled that Ecuador was the first country that officially consecrated himself.

In an interview with Ewtn News, the priest reported an intense experience in which he witnessed the power of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose party is today, about evil.

“Attended a house of nuns and in this house there were suddenly as noises, there were a bit weird things: some of the nuns could not sleep well, not because they did strange things about them, but because it seemed that there was a presence of evil there, somehow,” said the presbyter.

The priest recalled that, given that situation, he resorted to Fr. Francisco Sojos, exorcist of Guayaquil, who suggested “to make a consecration of that house to the sacred heart.”

“We did that process and it was nine days when we prayed and made some prayers. I went to the final day and did the consecration. And since that day they stopped all things,” said Fr. Vásconez.

“And it caught my attention.

Then, he said, “having confidence in divine mercy leads you to develop that confidence that the things that happen to you, good or bad, will always have a divine origin.” “Somehow,” God added, “God will take assets of that, as Saint Paul says in the letter to the Romans,” all things are for the good of those who love God. “

Ecuador, the first country to officially consecrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The priest also recalled that Ecuador was the first country to officially enshrine as a state to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on March 25, 1874, when he was President Gabriel García Moreno, who was devoted, together with the archbishop of Quito, Mons. José Ignacio Checa and Barba.

“This is the first country in which the president proposes it, Congress approves it, and then the Church is asked to do for all Ecuador that consecration,” said Fr. Vásconez.

The priest indicated that “as a product of that consecration, for example, the Government of García Moreno stabilized: it is a thing that has always been attributed to that consecration. There was much more peace in the country.”

“He is involved in the heart of the Ecuadorians that we have this medal, this great recognition that the Lord has wanted, we do not know why, that we always carry it with our foreheads up, of being the first to consecrate us to his sacred heart,” he said, remembering that in 2024 the 150 years of that event were held, within the framework of the International Eucharistic Congress held in Quito.

More devotion is urgent to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Latin America

The Ecuadorian priest also indicated that now “it is time to go to divine mercy. We are living a moment, especially in our South American countries, of an increase in violence that is really striking, which is something that takes away the hope of many hearts.”

“And perhaps being clear that devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus brings that mercy, therefore, that hope”, and “it is what can bring us a lot of peace. I think that for us in Latin America it is especially urgent that we remember the need for this devotion,” he concluded.
