Banda was leading the morning prayers. Parishioners were entering the church in anticipation of the morning Mass… Some of the parishioners had already entered the building when one of them noticed a stranger they had never seen before; “It was apparently a very well-dressed African man they had never seen before, who walked straight up to Fr. Banda and sat down next to him,” the Far North Bulletin reported.
A journalist from the news agency reported: “When Father Banda had completed his morning prayer, he got up to go to prepare for the sacristy for the morning Mass… The man also got up and accompanied Father .Band” that room.
“When they entered the sacristy, the gunman allegedly pulled his firearm from his waistband and shot Fr. Banda in the neck, near the jaw. He then turned and walked out. As he approached the door, the gunman turned around and came back and shot Fr. Banda in the head,” Far North Bulletin reported. He indicated that the stranger then got into a vehicle that was waiting for him and sped away.
