“Consolation is a divine gift. Christ says in Gethsemane that ‘he is sad to the point of death’ (Mt 26:38), which is why he is consoled by the Spirit in prayer with the Father. From here he draws strength in the midst of weakness to be faithful to his mission of saving us,” said the priest.
“The strength of the Spirit is then our consolation, a call to enter into that mystery of the Son’s offering to the Father who saves us. The life of the Christian consists of participating in that mystery of Love of the Son, with all that it entails of suffering, dedication and love until the end“he assured.
Finally, Father Pérez Soba clarified that “sacrifice is acting for a sacred motive, for a love greater than ourselves, which transforms us. It frees our heart from excessive attachment to things that bind us and directs it to embrace Christ on the Cross to learn from Him a love that makes us children.
“This supposes an interior victory for the Lord to be our life, it is not so much about what costs us the most, but about what unites us most to his gift of his life, for love of the Father,” he concluded.
